Wood vs. Composite Decking

The right decking material depends on your priorities, including appearance, maintenance, durability, and budget.

Premium Decking Boards: Premium wood decking provides a natural appearance and traditional outdoor feel. Wood can be stained or finished to complement your home and gives your deck the authentic character many homeowners prefer.

Trex Composite Decking: Composite decking offers a low-maintenance alternative with a consistent appearance and no need for the same routine staining and sealing associated with wood. Trex decking is designed for homeowners who want to spend more time enjoying their deck and less time maintaining it.

José’s Decking can discuss the differences between premium decking boards and Trex composite decking during the planning process so you can make an informed choice for your Buford or Gwinnett County property.

Multi-Level & Complex Custom Decks

Not every property calls for a simple, single-level platform. José’s Decking has the experience to design and construct multi-level decks and more complex outdoor structures that work with challenging layouts, changes in elevation, and different areas of your yard.

A multi-level deck can create separate spaces for dining, entertaining, relaxing, grilling, or enjoying the view while making better use of your available outdoor space. We carefully plan the layout, elevations, access points, stairs, and structural framing so the finished deck works as one cohesive outdoor living area.

Our Custom Deck Construction Process

Every custom deck project begins with understanding your property and what you want from the finished space.

Site Preparation: We evaluate the proposed deck location, property layout, grade, access, and other site considerations before construction begins. Proper preparation creates the foundation for a stable, long-lasting deck.

Framing & Structural Construction: Our team builds the deck's structural framework according to the planned design and applicable building requirements. For multi-level and more complex decks, careful framing and elevation planning are especially important.

Decking & Finishing: Once the structure is complete, we install your selected premium decking boards or Trex composite decking and complete the finishing details that bring the design together.

Permitting & Code-Compliant Construction

Custom deck construction involves more than choosing decking boards and creating a layout. Where permits are required, José’s Decking handles the permitting process and builds according to applicable local building codes and requirements. Our goal is to make the construction process straightforward while ensuring your new deck is built properly from the ground up.
